I chanced upon the article of Mr. Reynaldo Duque that was posted here.
I discovered that my grandfather’s name was included among the writers for
Bannawag – Salvador E. Nilo.
Do you, by any chance, know the email address of Mr. Duque. Our family had been trying to get hold of copies of his works published in Bannawag for years. I’m not really sure why my grandmother, mother and aunts/uncle failed to keep my grandfather’s works except for one.
Let me just ask permission from Mr. Duque to send out his email.
For the meantime, please try to remember the years when your grandfathers’ works were published, if you can. This will greatly help in the search and retrieval of the articles.
Bannawag has an archive of the articles (I am not sure though if it’s complete) and I think that is where we can find the issues where your grandfathers’ works were published.
I was just talking to Mr. Duque last Sunday (a day before I reposted his article here) and I too asked him about old issues of the magazine. I am also trying to recover my father’s old short stories and I had hoped Mr. Duque might have a complete set of the old issues of Bannawag. He, however, advised me to go to the Bannawag office as they might have the files in their archive. I have expressed intention to try to look for my father’s articles several times over the years I’ve been in GUMIL, but I haven’t had the time to visit the Bannawag office and go through the old issues yet.
Let me know if you’ve got the dates (or at least the years) so I could look them up when I finally have the time to go through the old issues. Or, you might want to get in touched with the Bannawag staff. Call on a Fri or Sat as those are the days that their schedule is not so hectic. Bannawag: 400-0089

Re Atty. Ma. Olivia Nilo De Leon-Cuevas’ and Salvador Nilo’s search for BANNAWAG copies – The National Library on Kalaw Street, Luneta, as of the 70s, had bound copies of practically all issues (since 1934 or ‘35, I think). I hope they’re still intact.
