FGood article. I am proud of the Filipino and American troops who fought.
That it took sixty years for the Filipino veterans to receive their promised
compensation is disgraceful. There is no excuse for that.

Interesting observation, VF! Do you know of other Death March shrines elsewhere in the world? What’s the design?

Also let me share you guys that earlier this week, Japan has apologized for the Bataan Death March. Any reactions?

I believe that the use of the cross here is inappropriate. We should not forget that the war was fought by soldiers of different religious backgrounds.

I wonder if the planners ever considered the social implications…

It should be noted that the US and Filipino soldiers defending Bataan did not surrender. They were surrendered by their commanding chief, Major General Edward P. King, Jr.

King would later tell his soldiers: “You did not surrender. I did. That decision was mine alone.”
